Upcoming Sunset: Legacy Lifecycle Stage Properties

Upcoming Sunset: Legacy Lifecycle Stage Properties
1:59

Lifecycle stages help you track how contacts and companies progress through your marketing and sales processes. With these stages, you can either use the default lifecycle stages provided by HubSpot or create and customize your own, with the option to automate how your contacts move through them with both options.

Recently, HubSpot launched a new set of lifecycle stage properties for Contacts, offering enhanced functionality compared to previous versions. Consequently, the legacy properties will begin to be phased out on November 20, 2024.

Why Does It Matter?

Phasing out the legacy properties will reduce any potential confusion between different versions and enhance overall product reliability.

How Does It Work?

On August 20-21, in-app notifications were rolled out to super admin users to share the following updates:

  • The upcoming phase out of legacy contact properties, specifically "Became a [lifecycle stage] date," starting November 20.
  • Key behavioral differences between the legacy and new properties that may affect list membership enrollments.
  • Starting in early October, HubSpot will begin to auto migrate the usage of legacy properties to the new properties.
  • Customers who prefer to manually migrate can opt out of auto-migration but must stop using the legacy properties by November 20. The opt-out option will be available until September 27, 2024.

Who Gets It?

Super admins on all hubs and tiers. Only accounts opened prior to August 1, 2024 will be impacted.

In summary, this month brings important announcements from HubSpot regarding upcoming sunsets, including changes to marketing email bounce management tools (you can read more about that here). Keeping up with the latest updates is crucial. Be sure to explore our other blogs below to discover what else has changed in recent weeks and reach out with any questions.
