HubSpot Update: Save Drafts and Edit Scheduled One-to-One Emails

HubSpot Update: Save Drafts and Edit Scheduled One-to-One Emails
2:24

You can now save drafts and edit scheduled emails in HubSpot before they ever get sent. This isn’t a major update, but a much needed one for the workflows of your sales and marketing teams.

Here’s what’s new and why it matters.

What Is It?

You can now do two new things when sending emails in HubSpot:

  • Save an email as a draft for later

  • Edit scheduled emails before it sends

This is a much-needed feature that’s been missing for quite a while. It probably should have been a feature to begin with, but we’re happy that it’s finally here.

How It Works (Step by Step)

Step 1: How to Save an Email as a Draft on HubSpot

  1. Start drafting a one-to-one email in the CRM
  2. Click the dropdown next to the Send button
  3. Select “Save as draft”
  4. Click Save as draft

Step 2: Access and Manage Drafts

Once saved, the draft can be accessed in a few places:

  • From the CRM timeline on the associated record

  • From the Email index page, where “Draft” is now a value under the Email send status property

From there, you can:

  • Open the draft

  • Edit it

  • Send it when ready using the Actions dropdown

Important note:
You can only view and edit drafts that you created. Drafts are not visible to other users.

Step 3: Edit a Scheduled Email

  1. Navigate to the CRM record where the scheduled email lives
  2. Find the scheduled email in the timeline

  3. Click the Actions dropdown

  4. Select “Cancel and edit.”

This will:

  • Stop the email from sending

  • Reopen it in the email editor

Step 4: Update and Reschedule

  1. Make your changes to the email content

  2. Choose one of the following:

  • Send immediately

  • Select Send later to reschedule

Who Gets Access?

This update is available across all hubs and tiers, so any HubSpot user sending one-to-one emails can take advantage of it.

Our Take

This is one of those updates that feels obvious and should have been a feature from the start.

Saving drafts is a basic expectation in most tools, and not having it in HubSpot was confusing and created unnecessary friction. With that being said, this is a much-needed feature and will be very appreciated by those who frequently create emails in HubSpot.

The one limitation worth noting is that drafts are not collaborative. Since only the creator can view and edit them, this doesn’t fully solve for team-based review workflows. Still, for individual productivity, this is a meaningful improvement.
